As part of Hellermann Tyton’s on-going product evaluation and development program, we are pleased to announce the launch of the RapidNet Fibre range as an addition to their current and very successful Copper based RapidNet system.
The RapidNet system is the perfect solution for today's optical fibre installations, designed to enable a fibre network to be installed and commissioned in the shortest possible time keeping onsite time and disruption to a minimum.
The high density design makes it perfectly suited to the demanding environments of Data Centres and large communication rooms where space is at a premium such as in existing cabinets and trunking or through limited space access points. The design reduces the amount of floor space and rack space required and therefore the associated costs of the installation.
Data Centres have to serve a wide variety of services and clients that need to be supported by the cabling infrastructure. It is important to consider not only the required applications of today, but also those which are coming in the future as well. The initial setup time for servers and data storage equipment is an important operational cost factor in Data Centres. Moreover any required time for later Moves, Adds and Changes need to be kept as short as possible as this means an interruption of services.
CDI will attend site to accurately measure the route in which the MPO assembly will be installed, allowing an extra 10% for cable slack. All products with then be produced and tested off site, each component of the MPO system is packed with a certificate showing its performance at the time of manufacture, this ensures the system will function from the moment the final part of the system is connected.
CDI will then at a convenient time return to site to install the complete system, this part of the installation does not require specialist engineers or special tools. The MPO system also allows for the communication cabinets to be fully assembled in the installers own clean workshops and only taken to site when the installation is due to go live.
MPO pre-termination saves time and reduces the possibility of damage to the fragile optical tails and reduces the risk of dirt ingress into fibre couplers.
The system comprises of 3 main components, a pre terminated loom, and MPO cassette and the patch panel.
The pre-terminated looms are available in various lengths with SC or LC connections. The LC is available as both 6 or 12 Duplex connections and the SC as 6 Duplex connections only. This means double the density over a traditional fibre system. The looms manufactured in house by Hellermann Tyton to the required length and are supplied pre terminated and tested.
The High Density MPO Cassette is supplied pre loomed terminated and tested, the cassette is designed so that each element is located in the same place at either end making the labelling and installation quicker.
The Patch Panel is a 1u 19” frame that uses the same footprint as the copper version; this enables the user to mix both copper and fibre rapidnet cassettes into the same rack space. |
