Britannia Building Society bought the savings book from the Bristol & West Building Society for £155 million. This included 850,000 customers, £4.5 billion in their savings accounts and approximately 100 branches. The merger was formally agreed in September last year and the Society was tasked with integrating the two businesses, the two branch networks and replacing the entire branch IT equipment. A demanding deadline of 1st July 2006 (i-day) was the date set for this integration.

"Britannia had to get a new LAN infrastructure installed into approximately 100 branches to accommodate the new systems and set up 13 training systems in 10 venues to enable us to train some 900 staff in the run up to i-day. Each branch and training system required new structured cabling, power and active equipment.

With these demands in mind, it was imperative to engage with a business partner who could meet our requirements, specifications, budgets and deadlines. I am delighted to say that CDI were big enough and flexible enough, to fulfil all our needs. The liaison with the CDI staff and engineers was first class and the speedy reaction to the inevitable changes in plans made the installations a lot easier to manage."
